An interesting decision was published in the Family Division case of S v G this week.
The wife in the case had a lottery win from her membership of a syndicate. She used some of the money to purchase a new home for herself and her husband. The Judge decided that part of the lottery win had been converted into "matrimonial property" and was therefore part of the "pot" against which the husband had a claim. However, as the home had come from the lottery win and the parties had not lived in it for very long prior to separation, the husband could not expect to be awarded an equal share.
