Halifax reported a 1.2% rise in house prices in October. This means that the average home in England is worth £163,311. According to the RICS, activity in the housing market rose to its strongest level since April 2010 last month. Research showed that 8% more Chartered Surveyors reported sales rising than reported them falling in October. However, the above optimism needs to be tempered by the view of a national housebuilder that UK house prices could plunge 10% as a result of the eurozone debt crisis.
