Inheritance Tax - charitable giving

From April 2012, it will be possible to reduce from 40% to 36% the rate of Inheritance Tax payable on the remainder of your estate by giving at least 10% to charity.

Whether this will be atrractive will depend on 'the arithmetic', but the larger the estate, the more likely there is to be a benefit: Richard Branson and other high-profile entrepreneurs have pledged to give away 10% of their wealth to charity in their Wills.
