Up to two million public sector workers are set to strike next week over changes to public sector pensions. The Government has proposed that public sector workers work for longer, pay more towards their pension and agree to alter their pensions from final salary pensions to career average salary pensions. Trade Unions oppose the proposals, saying that their members will be losing out under the proposed reforms.
The number of teachers expected to be involved in the strike action means that the Government is expecting two thirds of schools to close, having effects on private sector workers who are unable to obtain childcare.
If you have any queries about whether you are entitled to take part in industrial action or if you wish to know your employment rights in relation to taking time off to look after your children during the strike action please contact Ryan D'Souza on 01708 784090 or ryandsouza@mplaw.co.uk
