As reported in the Romford Recorder, almost 300 people were injured in workplace accidents in Havering last year. This is a rise of 7% from the previous year.
The figures from the Health and Safety Executive advise that 69 of the 297 people injured in Havering were seriously injured, but there were no deaths.
Nationally the highest risk industries are Construction, Agriculture and Waste and Recycling with a number of deaths occurring in all.
The HSE is calling for better safety and is reminding employers that they have a legal responsibility to ensure lives are not at risk.
